Forecast Snow Stability: Accumulations of fresh wet snow will form above 900 metres though amounts are not expected to be significant. As the temperature rises above the summits during the morning these accumulations will quickly begin to thaw. The existing snowpack will remain generally stable and continue to thaw and diminish especially at lower elevations. Remaining cornices will continue to slump with potential collapse remaining unpredictable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: It will be dry this evening and overnight with strengthening Southerly winds. Precipitation from around dawn, initially falling as snow on the highest summits will turn to rain, heavy at times, at all elevations. During the day winds will be strong to gale force from South-Westerly directions with the freezing level remaining above the summits till late afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Following a period of rain and light snow above 850 metres during the early hours, it has been a mainly dry and bright day, though persistent cloud has remained over the higher summits. Winds have been light and variable. The freezing level rose to around 1200 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snowpack continues to consolidate and is stable. Lower overnight temperatures started to refreeze the wet snowpack with a thin crust forming at higher elevations. A light dusting of fresh snow has been thawing through the day, only remaining above 1200 metres. Cornices continue to slump with potential collapse being unpredictable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
