Avalanche Summary
No avalanches were observed or reported in Little Yoho today. However, nearby on Highway 93 North, a skier triggered a size 2 wind slab on the west facing slopes below Cirque Peak (above Bow Lake). There were no injuries but some equipment was lost.
Snowpack Summary
The high alpine may have some wind effect, but many sheltered areas have soft snow. The mid-pack is generally strong; however, a facet layer can be found near the ground in shallow snowpack areas. At treeline, average snowpack depth ranges from 110 to 160 cm.
Weather Summary
The region will remain under the influence of a high-pressure ridge on Wednesday, with temperatures ranging from -6°C to -9°C. Strong westerly gusts may result in windy conditions. By Friday, 15-20 cm of new snow is expected.
