Forecast Snow Stability: Underlying snowpack weaknesses remaining at depth on all aspects. Moderately bonded windslab overlying weak layers will persist on most aspects above 1000m. During the afternoon windslab will develop on NW to NE aspects above 900m. This will become increasingly unstable with avalanches likely later in the day. Areas most affected will be steep and convex terrain. Localised instabilities on steep banks and gullies below 900m. Cornices will be fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Weather Influences: Light snowfall during the night, this will clear to leave a dry day. Fresh West to Northerly winds will gradually veer Easterly and increase through the afternoon to become very strong South-South-Easterly by the end of the day. The freezing level will be around 300 to 400 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day with moderate Westerly winds increasing to strong through the afternoon. The midday freezing level was around 400 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Underlying snowpack weaknesses persist at depth on all aspects. Moderately bonded windslab overlying weak layers are present on S through W to N-W aspects above 950m. During the afternoon localised unstable windslab developed above 900m on NE to SE aspects. On all of these aspects, areas mainly affected are steep and convex terrain. Cornices are fragile. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
