Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche where you find more than about eight inches of recently drifted snow at upper elevations. Look for and avoid pillows of drifted snow on steep slopes below ridges, convex rollovers, and inside gullies. Cracking in the new snow is a sign to move to low-angle slopes.

You should expect a rapid increase in avalanche danger as a potent winter storm brings heavy snow beginning on Monday night.
