The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE. Snow and winds over the past week have deposited soft surface slabs to two feet in depth in the mountains. These slabs could be triggered by riders or skiers today in steep, high, avalanche starting zones where the new snow sits on a hard, slick crust that formed in early November.

Another system will pass over the area Friday and Friday night but will briing only light amounts of snow.Temperatures will be warm with near or above freezing temperatures at lower elevations. Winds will be westerly at twenty miles per hour. The General Avalanche Hazard at high elevations is expected to remain MODERATE. Pockets of slab to two feet could be triggered in steep terrain underlain by the old, slick snow crust. In areas without the crust, avalanches are unlikely as the newer snow lies directly on the ground.
