Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on slopes where you find more than 8 inches of snow that is poorly bonded to the firm surface below. This is most likely on east and southeast slopes close to ridgelines. Avoid steep slopes where you see cracking and collapsing in the surface snow. If you trigger an avalanche at the surface, it could step down to deeper weak layers. You can find safer travel on slopes without drifting or on low-angle slopes.
