Avalanche Summary

Avalanche conditions are generally safe. If you are traveling in the Mt Zirkel Wilderness, use extra caution, as we have limited data in this area. Dig down and look for reactive weak layers buried 2 to 3 feet from the surface on northerly and east-facing slopes.

Southerly slopes with thick, supportable crusts are the least likely place to trigger a deeply breaking avalanche.
