Forecast Snow Stability: The greatest snow deposits will remain on North to East aspects above 800 metres. The snowpack will be hard, icy and frozen. Fresh deposits from Saturday afternoon are shallow and not significant. Stability will be good throughout. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: After an overnight frost a clear settled day with spells of sunshine is expected. Moderate Westerly winds will back to become Southerly. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight and through the morning it was mild with temperatures above freezing at all levels. The freezing level dropped through the afternoon. There was some light rain during the morning, this turned to snow at progressively lower levels during the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: The spring snowpack continued to thaw and consolidate during the morning. During the afternoon it began to freeze and consolidate at higher levels. Stability is good throughout. Fresh deposits during the afternoon were not significant. The avalanche hazard is Low.
