The strong wind has transported the new snow and, in some cases, old snow as well. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant above approximately 2600 m. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in steep terrain and at transitions into gullies and bowls,, but in isolated cases also at a distance from ridgelines. The wind slabs are to be bypassed in particular in very steep terrain. As a consequence of the moist air small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist avalanches are possible, in particular on rocky sunny slopes.

Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Intermediate and high altitudes in places that are protected from the wind: Towards its surface, the snowpack is dry; its surface consists of loosely bonded snow. Individual weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, in particular at high altitude. The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will soften during the day.

The weather conditions will bring about a gradual weakening of the near-surface layers in the afternoon.
