Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of warming the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent.

As a consequence of warming medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible. The new snow of the last few days can be released by a single winter sport participant. The older wind slabs are mostly small and can only be released in isolated cases. The avalanche prone locations are covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise.

Snowpack Structure

20 to 30 cm of snow fell in the last few days above approximately 2400 m. The new snow is lying on top of a quite favourable old snowpack. The high temperatures will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack.
