Caution also on hiking trails: beware of wet snow avalanches triggering above you

Avalanche danger is moderate. Wet snow is a problem. Small to medium-sized loose snow avalanches can release spontaneously in steep rocky terrain. Wherever there is still enough snow, in addition possibility of small to medium-sized glide snow avalanches triggering naturally in steep terrain with smooth ground.

Snowpack Structure

Up to summit altitudes the snowpack is thoroughly wet down to the ground. The onset of persistent rainfall from the west during the course of the day further weakens the snow which, as a consequence, can trigger naturally in steep terrain. The ground layers of the snowpack are also wet which additionally promotes gliding of the snow masses over smooth ground.

Tendency

As a result of the rainfall the snowpack clearly dwindles. The wet snow problem will recede over the weekend.
