Snowpack Summary

A significant temperature inversion and precipitation is forecasted for Monday. Even if our mountains should remain below zero, the atmosphere where the precipitation will develop will be above zero. The precipitation will therefore fall as rain and freeze on contact with the mountains, creating a nice layer of ice at all altitudes.

Before the sleet fall on your head, you will be able to find in the mountains, in places sheltered from the wind, 20 to 40 cm of pleasant powder to ski. The best skiing will definitely be in the forest... very early Monday morning! The alpine and treeline were greatly affected by the moderate to strong northeast winds of the last few days. On Sunday, there were isolated pockets of soft wind slabs, but mostly very hard slabs, compressed by the wind. The areas exposed to the wind are rock or icy crust. In general, the thickness of the snow cover varies from 50 to 100 cm depending on the sector and the altitude. Freezing level at 350m.
