Regions: Glacier.

Full daily avalanche bulletins will begin soon, as more information becomes available on conditions. Watch out for early season hazards like rocks and trees and be aware of increasing avalanche hazard when temperatures rise this weekend.

Weather Forecast

Several weather systems are set to impact the BC coast this coming week in a pattern of warm southwesterly flow. The largest of these systems hits Rogers Pass on Wednesday night. A return to high pressure with rising freezing levels (3200m) is expected for the weekend.

Snowpack Summary

Warm and moist weather systems continue to drop a mix of snow and rain in Rogers Pass. Above treeline, the snowpack varies from 90cm to 150cm deep and contains a developing storm slab and a basal crust. The snowpack is much thinner and typical of early season conditions below treeline.

Avalanche Summary

Several loose avalanches have been observed from steep alpine terrain in avalanche paths along the Trans-Canada highway. There are limited backcountry observations at this time.
