Weather Forecast
Several weather systems are set to impact the BC coast this coming week in a pattern of warm southwesterly flow. The largest of these systems hits Rogers Pass on Wednesday night. A return to high pressure with rising freezing levels (3200m) is expected for the weekend.
Snowpack Summary
Warm and moist weather systems continue to drop a mix of snow and rain in Rogers Pass. Above treeline, the snowpack varies from 90cm to 150cm deep and contains a developing storm slab and a basal crust. The snowpack is much thinner and typical of early season conditions below treeline.
Avalanche Summary
Several loose avalanches have been observed from steep alpine terrain in avalanche paths along the Trans-Canada highway. There are limited backcountry observations at this time.
