Problems

Wind Slabs

Any terrain with a skiable snowpack will likely have Windslab. Our last storm was accompanied by NE winds. We have now returned to a typical SW flow. The combination of these two events has seen Windslab development on all aspects.

  • Be careful with wind loaded pockets. Be aware of wide variation in snowpack depth
  • Watch for shooting cracks or stiffer feeling snow. Avoid areas that appear wind loaded.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.
