Weather Forecast

Monday is forecast to be a mix of sun and cloud with morning temperatures around -25c, with a daytime high of -13c. Winds will pick up during the day from the SW.

Avalanche Summary

The forecasting team skied in the Black Prince area today and no new avalanches were observed.

Snowpack Summary

There is about 20cm of new snow that sits on top of a generally well consolidated snowpack. Some wind effect can be found around ridges and cross loaded features. The Dec 1 crust is down about 60-70cm, below 2200m and is not a concern at this time.

Terrain and Travel

  • Be aware of the potential for loose avalanches in steep terrain where snow hasn't formed a slab.
  • Avoid freshly wind loaded features, especially near ridge crests, roll-overs and in steep terrain.

Avalanche Problems

These wind slabs are now buried and specific to lee and cross loaded features.
