TUESDAY Night: Mostly clear with cloudy periods / light east wind / alpine temperature -2 C / freezing level 1000 m WEDNESDAY: Sunny with cloudy periods / light to moderate east wind / alpine temperature 5 C / freezing level 1800 mTHURSDAY: Sunny with cloudy periods / light east wind / alpine temperature 6 C / freezing level 1900 mFRIDAY: Mix of sun and cloud / light northeast wind / alpine temperature 5 C / freezing level 1800 m

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanches have been reported recently.

Snowpack Summary

Up to 35 cm of new snow fell Monday night into Tuesday at upper elevations. That is sitting on either moist snow or a melt freeze crust. Below 1300 m approximately, precipitation Monday night fell as a mix of snow and rain or just rain, so expect the snow surface to be moist or wet.

Avalanche Problems

Loose Wet

The forecast calls sun and a high freezing level on Wednesday. This will result in the surface snow weakening and an increased likelihood of thin loose wet avalanches running in steep terrain, especially on those slopes facing the sun.
Cornices become weak with daytime heating, travel early on exposed slopes.Avoid sun exposed slopes when the solar radiation is strong, especially if snow is moist or wet.Use caution above cliffs and terrain traps where small avalanches may have severe consequences.

Aspects: South East, South, South West, West.

Elevations: All elevations.

Likelihood: Possible

Expected Size: 1 - 1.5

Storm Slabs

20-30 cm of new snow at upper elevations combined with moderate to strong southwest wind has created storm and wind slabs in high elevation terrain.
The new snow will require several days to settle and stabilize.Be cautious as you transition into wind affected terrain.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine.

Likelihood: Unlikely - Possible

Expected Size: 1 - 2
