Weather Forecast

Don't put the down coat away, you'll need it if you're heading out tomorrow. In fact, you may want 2 of them. Overnight will see lows of -20, with a daytime high of a measly -12. Light NE winds, scattered flurries and cloud round out the weather forecast.

Avalanche Summary

A few minor loose dry avalanches out of very steep terrain.

Snowpack Summary

Recent snow is continuing to trickle in with 10-20cm (drainage dependant) of storm snow in the Alpine. The amount rapildy tapers below treeline though so dont expect much is the lower elevations. The snow is overlying a thick crust on all aspects expect north. isolated windslabs can be expected in the alpine on all aspects along ridgelines and immediate lee features.

Terrain and Travel

  • Recent wind has varied in direction so watch for wind slabs on all aspects.
  • Watch for newly formed and reactive wind slabs as you transition into wind affected terrain.

Avalanche Problems

Windslabs can be found in the alpine along ridgelines and in gullied terrain. Watch for these slabs overlying a crust on solar aspects.
