Regions: Little Yoho.

The cold temperatures are expected to help, but there is still some uncertainty on how the storm snow is bonding to the old surface.

Confidence

Moderate

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanches reported.

Snowpack Summary

The Little Yoho Region received between 30-50 cm of storm snow over the weekend. This storm snow sits on a mix of facets, surface hoar and and thin sun crusts (Jan 30 layer). The mid and lower snowpack is well settled, with snowpack depths at the treeline ranging from 120cm to 180cm.

Weather Summary

Tuesday will be continued cold (treeline highs of -20) with scattered clouds and no precipitation. Winds are forecasted to be light from the south.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • Closely monitor how the new snow is bonding to the old surface.

Avalanche Problems

Storm Slabs

The bond of the storm snow to the Jan 30th layer is still suspect (see snowpack summary) and should be assessed carefully before venturing onto bigger features.
