Weather Forecast

Overnight temperatures will hit -10, but warm up to about -8. The clouds will build with flurries beginning late afternoon. This may be the leading edge of a system bringing 10cm over a couple of days. Winds will ramp up during the day, gusting to 70km in the alpine by early evening.

Snowpack Summary

The upper pack is surprisingly well settled down to about 1m (at treeline). Deeper than that we get into this year's crop of facets and depth hoar. This interface is still touchy. The upper pack is strong enough to bridge/support our weight which gives the first impression of it being a solid snowpack. Be sure to dig down to inspect this bond. There is surface hoar present up to treeline which may be buried if the forecast holds true. And last but not least, we have windslabs on easterly to southerly aspects in immediate lee areas at treeline & alpine.
