Snowpack Summary

In the alpine, 35-50 cm of new snow has buried either a crust or heavily wind effected old snow. At the tree line elevation recent precipitation fell as a mix of rain and snow. Expect to see the snow surface turn into a crust as the temperature begins to drop below freezing. Below the surface the snowpack is well-settled and strong.

Recent new snow arrived with moderate southerly wind. This has promoted wind slab development in the lee of terrain features.

Stay alert to changing conditions with elevation.Be careful with wind loaded pockets, especially near ridge crests and roll-overs.
