Weather Forecast
A significant storm passed over the forecast region on the 2/3 of October dropping 30-50cm of snow across the region. This adds the the previous snow that fell throughout September and its fair to say that there is a true winters snowpack at upper elevations throughout the region. Field observations are very limited at this time but persons using the back country should be aware that pockets of new slabs should be expected within the recent snow. Loose avalanches are also possible within this new snow. Avoid steeper areas and also if the sun comes out, be sure to be thinking about overhead terrain.Â
Avalanche Summary
Limited observations. Send in what you see to facebook www.facebook.com/kcpublicsafety, avalanche.safety@gov.ab.ca, or use the Mountain Information networks on Avalanche Canadas webpage.
