Regions: Glacier.
The spring snowpack continues to weaken. Small inputs; an brief period of sun hitting a slope or an intense rain shower; are triggering large avalanches from all aspects running into fans. This will continue today, with sun and showers forecast.
Avalanche Problems
Loose Wet
Temperatures have remained above freezing in the alpine for the last 72hours, preventing an overnight freeze. The upper snowpack is isothermal and moist on solar aspects with little strength.
Aspects: All aspects.
Elevations: All elevations.
Likelihood: Likely
Expected Size: 1 - 3
Wet Slabs
Moist snow and several crusts exist in the upper snowpack. Avalanche control Saturday produced size 2-3 wet slab avalanches, propagating on a crust down 40. Glide cracks continue to fail producing large avalanches running to valley bottom.
Aspects: All aspects.
Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.
Likelihood: Possible - Likely
Expected Size: 2 - 3
