The sun will be out for the first time in a week today. Watch for loose solar triggered avalanches especially when the sun first hits the slope. Natural avalanche activity is subsiding, but skier-triggerable avalanches down a meter are still likely.

Summary

Problems

Persistent Slabs

An icon showing Persistent Slabs
Around a meter of cohesive slab overlies 2 significant weak layers. These layers are reactive and in skier-triggerable range. Wide propagations and remote triggering are likely. These layers are most sensitive at treeline and below.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: All elevations.

Likelihood

Possible - Likely

Expected Size

1 - 3

Wind Slabs

An icon showing Wind Slabs
Look for dense, wind-deposited snow on lee slopes from southerly winds. Pockets of wind-loaded snow and areas of hard slab could catch you by surprise. These may be triggered by skiers and step down to the persistent weak layers below.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood
