Avalanche Problems

Wind Slabs

Moderate to strong winds have formed a hard slab in isolated locations in the alpine, most notably on convex roles and areas of downflow winds.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine.

Likelihood: Possible

Loose Wet

Watch for changing surface conditions when slopes start receiving sun. As the snowpack warms loose avalanches are possible, especially on steep slopes. Rocky outcrops are prime trigger spots. Limit your exposure to slopes adjacent to hot spots.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Possible

Expected Size: 1 - 3
