Avalanche Summary

There have been no recent reports in the region. We suspect the likelihood of avalanches has decreased substantially since the storm on the weekend, but rider-triggered storm slabs may still be possible at upper elevations on Monday.

If you are going out in the backcountry, please consider sharing your observations on the Mountain Information Network (MIN).

Snowpack Summary

At upper elevations, 20 to 40 cm of snow from the weekend is expected to bond well. At lower elevations, a crust develops over a rain-soaked snowpack.

Snow depths at treeline vary across the region. Around 90 cm is reported in the Coquihalla and 60 cm near Manning Park.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • If you are increasing your exposure to avalanche terrain, do it gradually as you gather information.
  • Watch for signs of instability like whumpfing, hollow sounds, shooting cracks, or recent avalanches.
  • Be careful with wind-loaded pockets, especially near ridge crests and rollovers.
  • Avalanche activity is unlikely when a thick melt-freeze crust is present on the snow surface.
