The Winter Permit System is no longer in effect. All Winter Restricted and Winter Prohibited Areas are now open. The Fidelity Prohibited Access Area remains closed. While artillery control is completed, avalanche control may continue as required.

Avalanche Problems

Loose Wet

After a week above freezing, temperatures are now dropping overnight. This is the beginning of a melt freeze cycle, and the surface crust will be thin. This crust will break down rapidly with daytime warming. Start early when danger is lowest.

Likelihood: Likely

Wet Slabs

Recent avalanches, both naturals and artillery controlled, have included wet slabs. They are failing and running on crusts 40cm or more deep. Loose wet avalanches, or cornice failures could trigger these slabs.

Likelihood: Possible - Likely
