Snowpack Summary
Uncertain amount of snow/rain forecast for Thurs night / Fri, will refresh surfaces at treeline and alpine. This will cover 20 cm of storm snow that fell on Tuesday, with strong SW winds. The April 18th interface, down 5-30 cm which is a crust on all aspects up to 2200 m and into the alpine on solar aspects. The below treeline crust is supportive.

No new natural avalanches have been observed recently. No reports of human triggering of recent storm snow in the park.

Wind Slabs
Lingering wind slabs can be found on lee features. New snow might increase the likelihood of triggering on Friday. These slabs are up to 30 cm deep and sitting on top of a crust on all but northerly alpine aspects.
- Recent snow may be more sensitive to human triggering on a crust
- Use caution in lee areas in the alpine and treeline.

Loose Wet
Rainfall and warm temperatures will increase the hazard below treeline on Friday. Watch for loose, wet snow as a sign of instability.
- Avoid terrain traps, such as gullies, where the consequences of a small avalanche could be serious.
- Use extra caution on slopes if the snow is moist or wet.

Cornices
Cornices are LARGE and may be sensitive to temperature fluctuations, solar radiation, wind loading or just your mere presence nearby. Take necessary precautions if approaching them to access your line and limit your exposure below them.
- Minimize exposure to cornices. They will squish you.
- Give cornices a wide berth when traveling on ridges.
