Forecasts don't agree on overnight temperatures. The colder the night the better the refreeze will be on solar aspects and below tree line travel. SW winds in the moderate range and no snow expected for Sunday.

Snowpack Summary

Forecasters skied in the ha-ling area today. About 10cm of snow sits on top of a variety of refrozen and hard surfaces. The skiing was "ok" quality. No sluffing or slab activity noted through the travels

Terrain and Travel

  • Avoid sun exposed slopes when the solar radiation is strong, especially if snow is moist or wet
  • Be alert to conditions that change with elevation and wind exposure.
  • Cornices become weak with daytime heating or solar exposure.

If the overnight temps don't get cold enough, The snow wont take long to break down. Pay close attention to the quality of the freeze overnight as this will play a large role in the timing of this problem.
