Winter is back. Tuesday morning will start out with a chilly -16c in the alpine and warm up to -11c. Light flurries are expected all day with an accumulation of 2-6cm. Winds are forecast to be moderate from the NE along with a freezing level of 1950m. The rest of the week has a very similar flavor.

Snowpack Summary

We have received up to 10cm of snow in the last 2 days. This snow is overlying a well settled snowpack on north aspects and more of a spring crusty snowpack on the solar aspects. There are some isolated wind slabs on all aspects in the alpine. Take the time to investigate before committing to larger features.

Terrain and Travel

  • Recent wind has varied in direction so watch for wind slabs on all aspects.
  • Watch for newly formed and reactive wind slabs as you transition into wind affected terrain.
