The deep wind slabs of the last few days represent the main danger. Backcountry touring calls for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and careful route selection.
Medium-sized and large avalanches are possible in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The deep wind slabs of the last few days can be released even by a single winter sport participant. Natural avalanches and stability tests have confirmed this situation.
Snowpack Structure
The wind slabs have bonded poorly with the old snowpack. Weak layers exist in the snowpack. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
Tendency
Over a wide area snowfall. As a consequence of new snow and wind, further wind slabs will form. The wind slabs will form in all aspects.
