Glacier.
A warm, juicy storm is bearing down Rogers Pass this weekend, bringing up to 50cm of snow by Sunday. This sudden loading by heavy snow will stress the shallow, early-season snowpack. Expect natural avalanches in the alpine.
A series of warm storms should hit Rogers Pass this weekend, bringing 10cm Friday and 35-50cm Saturday night through Sunday. Freezing levels will gradually rise to above 2000m on Sunday and winds will be moderate/strong from the SW. Check the Mountain Weather Forecast for updates.
The snowpack is slowly building at treeline and above, but diminishes rapidly as you lose elevation, with only 25cm at Rogers Pass. 90-120cm of snow can be found at treeline but expect more in alpine lees. Limited field observations leave us guessing about the bond between surface windslabs and underlying melt-freeze crusts.
No new avalanche observations from the last few days. This will change with the incoming storms over the weekend, possibly dropping up to 50cm of warm snow by Sunday afternoon.
