Problems

Storm Slabs

An icon showing Storm Slabs
Another 10cm overnight at tree line and above with reverse wind loading patterns. Storm snow instabilities and wind slab will exist at higher elevations before things have a chance to settle out.
Be cautious as you transition into wind affected terrain.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood

Possible - Likely

Expected Size

2 - 3

Loose Dry

An icon showing Loose Dry
Loose snow sluffs can gain mass in steeper terrain catching a rider off guard today. Be mindful of terrain traps (e.g. gullies, cliffs) where small avalanches can be more serious.
Watch for terrain traps where small amounts of snow will acumulate into deep deposits.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood

Possible - Likely

Expected Size

1 - 2

Persistent Slabs

An icon showing Persistent Slabs
Infrequent large avalanches have occurred on deeper instabilities. Shallow, rocky areas where the snowpack is thin and weak are most likely where they will be triggered.
Be aware of thin areas that may propogate to deeper instabilites.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.
