Avalanche Activity

The avalanche prone locations are rare and are easy to recognise.

The old snowpack will be generally stable. The avalanche prone locations are rather rare. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found above approximately 2500 m, in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls. In particular at low and intermediate altitudes from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information that has been collected in the field, so that the avalanche danger should be investigated especially thoroughly in the relevant locality.

Snowpack Structure

In all regions only a little snow is now lying. In particular at intermediate and high altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. The snowpack is well consolidated. Below approximately 1900 m, shady slopes: It is not distinctly layered and its surface has a crust.
