Forecast Snow Stability: There will be a general trend towards consolidation as the day progresses. However, in steeper wind sheltered locations on North through East to South aspects above 800 metres instabilities will persist in deeper accumulations. Gully tops, sharply defined corrie rims and deep burn lines will be most affected. Elsewhere the snow will be shallow, with exposed locations scoured and bare. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: After a mainly dry night there will a trace of snow during the morning, quickly turning to light rain around midday. Gale force North-Westerly winds overnight, easing for a while then increasing to become gale force South-Westerly during the afternoon. 400 to 500 metre freezing level overnight, rising rapidly during the morning to above all summits. Observed Weather Influences: Snow showers at all levels overnight and during the morning, becoming more intermittent during the afternoon. Strong to gale force generally Westerly winds. Bitterly cold with the freezing level around 400 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Snow showers and persistent drifting have continued to form unstable windslab in wind sheltered locations on mainly North-East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. Accumulations have also formed to a lesser degree on North and South aspects due to cross-loading. Distribution is limited to steep, well defined features such as gully tops, corrie rims and deep burn lines. In these locations, depth has become significant. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
