Forecast Weather Influences: Southerly winds will back to the South-South-East and remain strong. The freezing level will remain above the highest summits for the forecast period and no precipitation is expected. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight showers, falling as snow above 600 metres, cleared by early morning to give a bright day. Gale force Westerly winds backed to Southerly. The freezing level rose during the day to be above the highest summits. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh, isolated accumulations of windslab have developed on wind sheltered North to East aspects above 800 metres. The older snowpack remains well bonded and stable at all levels, softening on sun exposed slopes and as the freezing level rose. The avalanche hazard is Low.
