Travel conditions may be rugged but at least the views are great.
As aways, practice good travel habits like avoiding cornices and terrain traps.
Debris is still visible from large avalanches that ran during the warm wet conditions early last week. In the past 3 days, avalanche activity has been limited to:
a few cornice falls, some pulling small wind slabs on slopes below, some not
pinwheeling and small loose wet avalanches out of steep solar aspects at alpine and treeline elevations
This type of activity is becoming less likely with cooling alpine temperatures and repeated melt-freeze cycling on solar aspects.
A widespread crust exists on all aspects, up to at least 2300 m. This crust may soften on steep south-facing slopes during the day. If any shred of dry snow exists on high alpine north aspects, it is almost certainly wind affected. Large, overhanging cornices linger.
The remainder of the snowpack is well consolidated with no concerns at this time.
