Avalanche Summary

Watch for steep slopes where wind drifted more than about 8 inches of recent snow. Drifts will be smooth or rounded, and you can find them below ridges, along gullies, or downwind of other terrain features. You are most likely to find drifted snow on slopes at upper elevations that face north through east to southeast. Seek out wind-sheltered slopes where the recent snow lacks cohesion as a safer option.
