Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche in drifted snow on Thursday. Avalanches that break in recently drifted snow can step down to deeper layers. Avoid steep, drifted slopes that face northwest through east to southeast. Watch out for drifts at low elevations and in unusual places. Shooting cracks and audible collapses are signs of instability, but you might not see any before you trigger a slide.

Look for sheltered slopes without a slab or slopes that face south, southwest, or west as safer options.
