Steep slopes with wind-drifted snow are the most dangerous. Avalanches can break wide and near the ground like this one in the Mosquito Range (click here). On Tuesday we will see a few inches of snow and additional wind drifting. Any avalanche you trigger in freshly drifted snow can grow in size as it steps down to more deeply buried layers. Avoid steep slopes with harder, drifted snow.
