New snow accompanied by moderate winds adds new snow instabilities to the avalanche menu. The most dangerous slopes are where you find more than about 8 inches of drifted snow. Look for cracking in the snow surface or places where new snow transitions from softer to firmer as signs of instability and a developing slab. Slopes sheltered from the wind will provide safer travel options.
You may find loose avalanches in the new snow at upper and lower elevations. These avalanches will be small but could take you off guard and sweep you off your feet.
