You can trigger a slab avalanche on steep slopes where strong southwest winds drifted the new snow. Track the conditions as you move through the snow to identify local drifting patterns. Look for deeper drifts below ridgelines and along sides of gullies. If you experience a prolonged break in the clouds, expect snow surfaces to warm quickly and wet avalanche concerns to rise.
