Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche where recent snowfall has drifted into thicker slabs below ridges, steep rollovers, and the sides of steep gullies. Look for smooth, rounded features or open slopes below cornices as features to avoid.

Though less likely, there is still a lingering threat of triggering a deeper avalanche on higher elevation, north-facing slopes. To reduce your chances of being caught in a dangerous slide, steer clear of high-elevation, thin, rocky slopes, and wind-loaded areas.
