Avalanche Summary

Strong southwest winds will drift snow at upper elevations. Where drifted snow accumulates, you can easily trigger a large avalanche. In big, steep paths, a slide could break wide and deep, growing unsurvivably large. You can trigger the entire slope from a shallow spot near rocks, steep rollovers, or the margins of the slab. To help reduce your risk, steer clear of wind-drifted slopes and stick to lower-angle terrain.
