Heavy snowfall and strong winds will result in dangerous avalanche conditions. You can easily trigger a large avalanche on slopes over 30 degrees, where you find one to two feet of new or drifted snow. These avalanches can break from a distance away or from the bottom, further complicating travel in the backcountry. This is an unprecedented early-season storm, and very cautious route-finding in or around avalanche terrain or simple avoidance is highly recommended.
