Togwotee Pass

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Very strong west winds and new snow have formed DANGEROUS slabs two to four feet in depth on leeward aspects. These slabs are likely to be easily triggered in steep wind loaded starting zones, not neccesarily by the first rider on the slope and once triggered have the potential to pull out deeper layers of snow. These slabs will become more sensitive if significant warming occurs today. Saturday four snowmobilers triggered an avalanche in the the Southwest forecast area in which one rider was caught but only partially buried and suffered minor injuries.
