Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on steep slopes where you find more than about eight inches of new or drifted snow or where wind-drifted slabs formed above weak early-season layers near the ground. Slopes facing north, northeast, and east are most dangerous.  Stick to slopes less than about 30 degrees steepness with no steep slopes above for safer options.
