Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche where strong west-southwest winds drifted recent snow into a thick cohesive slab. The most dangerous slopes face north and an easterly direction at upper elevations. Expect slabs to form further down the slope than expected. Look for and avoid slopes with rounded lens-like snow surfaces below ridgelines, on the sides of gullies, or convex rollover. Seek wind-sheltered slopes if you see signs of recent avalanches or see signs of unstable snow, like cracking within the snow.
