Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a dangerous avalanche that breaks one to three feet deep on weak layers and crusts beneath the most recent storm snow. These avalanches can propagate widely.

Although you can find this hard over soft snow combination on many slopes, wind-loaded slopes hold the thickest slabs and are the most dangerous. Use caution on the lee side of a ridgeline or below cornices and evaluate any steep slope for buried weak layers before you travel on or across them.
