Avalanches large enough to bury or injure a rider will be unlikely on Tuesday. If we do receive more than a couple of inches of new snow, small avalanches will be possible where the wind is blowing that new snow to. While avalanche danger will be Low for most of the day, I am forecasting Moderate danger to reflect the need to assess wind blown snow later in the day.
The weather forecast is predicting light snowfall with Light wind speeds. Lower end snowfall estimates of 2 inches won't likely create much of a Wind Slab problem. If on the other hand we are finding the higher end of 4 inches of snow in sheltered areas it will be worth considering Wind Slabs on north and east slopes beneath ridgetops.
If it isn't already apparent in this forecast, I am caught a bit between Low and Moderate danger. I expect that early in the day riders may be seeking out deeper deposits of new snow to try and stay off the crust. As more snow falls, and if the higher forecast totals pan out, small avalanches will be possible in those areas where the wind tends to be the strongest and is moving snow.
