Another warm and wet day with little change to the snowpack leaves the danger level at low for all elevations of Douglas Island. Warm temperatures and rain mean snow will be wet and heavy, small loose wet slides on steep terrain are possible but should be very small.

Warm and wet weather remains in the forecast for today as well as into the work week. Temperatures never dropped below freezing overnight and we continue to have an isothermal snowpack across all elevation leading to generally stable conditions. The snowpack has had time to adjust to all the recent warming and moisture and no persistent weak layers are present. With a fully saturated snowpack the avalanche danger remains low but small loose wet activity remains possible especially on very steep slopes. These are most likely to be small slow moving point releases and are unlikely to propogate widely. Glide cracks and avalanches could start to present themselves as we move through a very warm and wet week. While conditions are generally stable it is still always important to practice good travel habits, keep an eye out for red flags, and have good terrain awareness in a spring-like snowpack.
